Strategy Associate

Job Description – Strategy Associate, AfriLabs

AfriLabs is seeking to recruit a Strategy Associate. The Strategy Associate is responsible for assisting the Director of Strategy to ensure strategic planning and development, and will support process planning to ensure maximum organisational impact.

Responsibilities include;

Strengthening AfriLabs management approach:
a) Conduct risk assessment, mitigation planning and monitoring in collaboration with initiative teams to ensure strategy is implemented as seamlessly as possible.
b) Identify, structure, define organisational challenges and work with the team to create impactful solutions.
c) Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation teams to support dynamic learning and strategy shaping.
d) Support mapping of the AfriLabs ecosystem.

Operationalising strategies:
e) support work streams on projects related to AfriLabs strategy, competitive analysis, multi-year planning etc.
f) Coordinate with other departments on strategic projects ensuring that projects continue to align to strategic goals and objectives.
g) Manage relationships with partners and innovators that contribute to strategy and strategic plan development.

Project Support:
h) Support ad hoc activities and programs that ultimately improve impact and performance in line with AfriLabs strategy.
i) Support enhancing organisational capabilities around project management, work planning, team structuring and process planning.


Reports to: Director of Strategy
Coordinates with: Operations/Programmes/Events/ Member Services and Communications Departments.

  • Requirements;
    Degree in relevant field, or demonstrated work experience in driving strategic initiatives.
  • Project management abilities.
  • Research experience .
  • A proven track record of solving complex, ambiguous problems in a structured way.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to work with and understand the innovation ecosystem.

Location: Abuja, Nigeria or Nairobi, Kenya (Coordinate with the AfriLabs Secretariat in Nigeria).

Employment Terms​: Full time role. 9am – 5pm; Monday to Friday.

Terms and Conditions:​ This is a locally recruited professional position by the AfriLabs Secretariat Nigerian entity and all benefits are denominated and paid in Nigerian Naira or USD as the case maybe. AfriLabs’ remuneration package includes a salary paid monthly, leave provisions, insurance, pension and health benefits.

Senior Programmes Manager

Job Description – Senior Programmes Manager, AfriLabs

AfriLabs is seeking to recruit a Senior Programmes Manager. The Senior Programmes Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of the entire proposed change, coordination of the programme’s projects and management of their inter-dependencies.

Responsibilities include;

  • Planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme – focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the programme, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards.
  • Managing the programme’s budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses.
  • Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the programme’s individual projects.
  • Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals to the Programmes Director.
  • Fulfil other tasks set out by supervisors.

Reports to: Director of Programmes
Coordinates with: Operations/Programmes/Events/ Member Services and Communications Departments.

Requirements;

  • Minimum of 5 -7 years of experience leading major education, technology and grassroots projects.
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of adaptive project management techniques like agile, human centered design, lean impact etc.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • Minimum qualification is Bachelor’s, Masters is an added advantage.
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to advice project teams on their projects in relation to the programme.
  • Ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.

 

Location: Across Africa (reports to the AfriLabs Secretariat, Abuja Nigeria).
Working remotely. However, will be required to travel occasionally to the AfriLabs Secretariat.
