About

The AfriLabs Hubs Learning Week is a quarterly series of capacity building virtual workshops that empower innovation and hub managers and staff with requisite and formal incubation management training and skills needed to start, operate and expand hubs/innovation centres in Africa.

The first AfriLabs Hubs Learning Week for 2019 is a two-part series. The first part is set to run  from Monday, the 25th of March 2019 to Friday, the 29th of March 2019. The second part will hold from Monday, the 24th of June 2019 to Friday, the 28th of June 2019.

Aspiring Members

Although the AfriLabs Hubs Learning Week is designed  for members of the network, we will be opening this edition of the Learning Week to non-member hubs who fit the criteria for joining the network and have been able to fill the membership form linked on the criteria page before the commencement of the Learning Week.

Individuals & Other Organizations

Individuals, organizations and other stakeholders interested in participating can do so by donating $100 or $150 to the learning week fund. $100 unlocks access to the first series and all the resources post the webinars while $150 unlocks access to both first and second series and all resources.

  • Realize the importance of Data and various forms of presenting data.
  • Have a clear understanding of data types and best ways to summarize data including key principles in communicating data.
  • Have a holistic look at communicating data effectively with data virtualization.
  • Look at effective communication ways and communication styles including tools.

Session 2: focuses on Data virtualization – June 2019

  2. Unit 1: The Startup Ecosystem Framework. Description of the role of the University and other Actors in the Startup Ecosystem.
  3. Unit 2: Research, Intellectual Property and Talent in Higher Education. Fundamentals and relevance of talent, expertise, research and intellectual property at universities in Africa.
  4. Unit 3: Africa University 2.0 Innovation-Driven University Model. A case of Strathmore University-The entrepreneurial university.
  5. Unit 4: Unlocking the Knowledge-Driven Economic Potential of Africa Through University-driven Innovation. Opportunities in research, talent, job creation and commercial returns for Africa.
